How this calculator works
A SIP invests a fixed amount every month. A step-up SIP raises that amount each year, usually in line with salary hikes, which makes a large difference over long periods.
This is a planning tool based on an assumed return. Market returns vary year to year; nothing here is a recommendation to buy any product.
Formula
Worked example
A ₹20,000 monthly SIP stepped up 10% a year for 15 years at an assumed 11% grows to about ₹1.54 crore from ₹76 lakh invested. At 5.5% inflation that is about ₹69 lakh in today’s money.
Things to watch
- Even a 5% yearly step-up adds a lot over 15 years.
- Look at the inflation-adjusted number when planning goals.
- Run a lower return too. Plans that only work at the best case are fragile.
Questions
Is the return guaranteed?
No. It is an assumption you choose. Actual returns depend on markets and the product.
What is a step-up SIP?
A SIP whose monthly amount rises by a fixed percentage every year.
Why show today’s money?
Because ₹1 crore in 15 years buys much less than ₹1 crore today.
Does this include tax?
No. Use a post-tax return if you want an after-tax estimate.
