How this calculator works
CTC includes things you never see in your bank account: the employer’s PF, gratuity and benefits. This calculator strips those out, then deducts your PF, professional tax and income tax under both regimes.
The EPF wage ceiling rose from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 a month from 17 September 2026, so mandatory PF at the ceiling is now ₹3,000 a month each from you and your employer.
Formula
Worked example
A ₹15 lakh CTC with 40% basic gives employer PF of ₹36,000 and gratuity of about ₹28,900, so gross salary is about ₹14.35 lakh. After PF and new-regime tax of ₹87,382, take-home is about ₹1,09,300 a month.
Things to watch
- Ask HR whether variable pay is inside CTC; it is often paid once a year and only in part.
- A higher basic raises PF and gratuity, lowering take-home now but raising long-term savings.
- Professional tax is nil in Haryana and Delhi, and up to ₹2,500 a year in many other states.
Questions
Why is my in-hand so much lower than CTC ÷ 12?
Because CTC includes employer PF and gratuity, and your own PF and tax come out of gross salary.
What changed in PF in 2026?
The EPF wage ceiling rose to ₹25,000 a month from 17 September 2026, so contributions calculated at the ceiling went up from ₹1,800 to ₹3,000 a month.
Which tax regime does this use?
Both. The higher take-home is shown in the summary.
Is HRA included?
HRA is part of gross salary. Enter the exempt portion under the old-regime inputs if you pay rent.
